Director of Data Analytics, Atlanta, GA

The Director of Data Analytics will lead the strategy, innovation, design, development, and maintenance of the company’s data analytics platform and initiatives.  As a strategic member of our technology leadership team, you will play a critical role in providing timely and relevant data, enabling data-driven decision-making, and increasing operational efficiency.  The role will have a strong emphasis on data lifecycle management based on the Microsoft SQL and Power BI platform. The position reports to the Senior Director of Applications & Analytics.  The Director of Data Analytics will lead a team of five professionals.

Work Location: Atlanta. Work three days in the office and two days per week at home. Travel expectations 6-8 times per year for internal meetings and industry conferences.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for data analytics aligned with the goals and objectives of the company. Collaborate with senior executives and stakeholders to define the vision, roadmap, and priorities for data analytics initiatives.

  • Develop and implement data lifecycle management strategies, including data governance, data quality, data integration, and data security, to ensure the availability, accuracy, and reliability of data assets.

  • Design, develop, implement, and support advanced analytics solutions using Microsoft Power BI and Microsoft SQL Server platform, enabling data-driven insights and reporting capabilities.

  • Drive the adoption of data analytics and visualization tools across the organization, empowering stakeholders to make informed decisions based on real-time data.

  • Drive process automation initiatives, leveraging technology solutions such as Artificial Intelligence to streamline workflows and reduce manual efforts.

  • Provide strategic guidance and thought leadership on technology trends, innovations, and best practices in data analytics.

  • Provide leadership and mentorship to a team of professionals responsible for data management, data transformation, and development of reporting, dashboards, and interfaces.

  • Foster a collaborative and high-performing culture within the IT department, promoting knowledge sharing, innovation, and continuous learning.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, business units, and external vendors to ensure successful project execution, timely delivery, and alignment with business objectives.

  • Develop and maintain data analytics documentation, including data dictionaries, database diagrams, analytics diagrams, integrations, and code.

  • Actively participate in webinars and conferences to stay informed about the latest trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in data analytics and the multifamily industry.

  • Network with industry experts, vendors, and thought leaders to build relationships and stay abreast of developments in data analytics technology and the multifamily industry.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proven experience (7-10 years) in a leadership role overseeing data analytics and data management initiatives.

  • Strong experience in Microsoft SQL Server, Analysis Services, Integration Services, and Reporting Services.

  • Proven ability to think strategically, analyze complex problems, and develop innovative solutions.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

  • Highly Proficient in Microsoft Power BI for designing and developing data sets, interactive dashboards, and visualizations.

  • Experience with modern cloud data platforms and tools such as Microsoft Fabric, Microsoft Synapse, Azure Data Factory, Snowflake, etc.

  • Highly proficient in advanced Microsoft Excel data functions including Pivot Tables, Power Pivots, Power Query, reporting, visualization, macros, VBA, etc.

  • Knowledge of Large Language Models (LLMs) such as Microsoft Copilot, OpenAI, etc. in data analytics applications such as data cleansing, anomaly detection, and task automation.

  • Experience in the real estate / multifamily industry is preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of financial planning & analysis and operational metrics.

  • Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams towards achieving common goals.

  • Strong project management skills, with a track record of successfully delivering large-scale data projects on time and within budget.

  • Solid understanding of IT governance, security, and compliance requirements.

Education & Certification:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Intelligence, Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Economics, or a related field preferred.

  • Master's degree desirable.

  • Relevant certifications such as Azure Data Analyst Associate, Power BI Data Analyst Associate, Azure Data Scientist Associate, Certified Analytics Professional, and Google Data Analytics Professional Certificate are a plus.
